i drink the sweet sticky sugar
that drips from your fleshy wound
i listen to you strum those worn out strings
pulled from my heart while i sleep
not afraid for the world to hear
the song that reveals my deepest fear
as you laugh with that intoxicating smile
that sparkle that makes me forget who i am
as you sing me just a bit off key

drifting

it doesn’t always come at once
this seeing
things add up
and there’s wishful thinking
influences from every speck of dust
twists and turns this plot for us
in my boat i do not row
i simply watch the stardust flow
in rays of light
into the sea
doing this kinda dance thing for me
but anyway this seeing thing
it all depends on what you bring
into this light
upon this sea
i drift along

my halo bent and wandering
trailing off behind me sings
the sparkling light of everything

spiraling softly out of control
my thoughts and yours are cleverly wove

thirty dollars of chocolate

so here i go
with my starlight afro
curly locks
for blocks and blocks
strolling down fifth avenue
buzz me in please
i have expensive chocolate to buy
me in my t-shirt
you in your tuxedo
and chocolate for
twenty seven dollars a pound
in the subway i stand mesmerized
a girl with a drum pounding to the rhythm
and the stream of people
oblivious of this gift
and me
with thirty dollars of chocolate
melting in my hand
