me off key
October 26, 2009
i drink the sweet sticky sugar
that drips from your fleshy wound
i listen to you strum those worn out strings
pulled from my heart while i sleep
not afraid for the world to hear
the song that reveals my deepest fear
as you laugh with that intoxicating smile
that sparkle that makes me forget who i am
as you sing me just a bit off key

I’ve read this three times. Each time, I am left speechless. Wow this is good.

thank you bonnie, your words mean so much to me.

thank you Ed, i’m learning, slowly. it is still hard to believe that i am even attempting to write poetry. the IB broke loose some screws in my head and now i just love this new form of expression. you, Heath, Bonnie and Keith have been a huge inspiration to me. i am so lucky to have stummbled into the IB world and met such amazing people. i am very much a different person because of that experience. still a goofball, but with more confidence.

beautiful explosions in my ears… and on my lips as I read and reread…
from yours.

It’s a good thing your name’s not Jack.
O’Lantern, that is. Har-dee-har-har. Me off key?
Happy Halloween! (That’s frightfully suspicious.)
Your minstrel’s song has a spooky
sweet tooth touch to it. I think
your wife knows too much. Scary.
Very well done, doodleman!
